Collaboration between City departments and community agencies creates innovative health programs to improve the health of children and families

Berkeley, California (Wednesday, June 06, 2007) - South Berkeley community members will celebrate the successful launch of several new community health programs on Thursday, June 7. The celebration will also recognize the achievements of the after-school program for this year.

The new community health programs are a collaboration between several City and community agencies, including Farm Fresh Choice and the United States Tennis Association Northern California. Some of the new programs include the addition of a Dance Dance Revolution arcade game to the Frances Albrier Community Center, on which kids follow dance steps on footpads in time to music, weekly healthy take-out meals, and tennis and cooking classes. The programs hope to reach children and young adults, many of who will be at the celebration.
