  USING SUBMITTABLE

GRANT-SPECIFIC ONLINE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. To get to the online grant application, first locate the link on our Civic Arts Grant website called “Online Application”. You will be taken to our public call site, hosted by Submittable (our online application manager.)

2. You will find all three open grant categories listed: Large Organizations, Small to Mid-Size Organizations, and Individual Artists. Click on the red title of the category for which you or your organization is eligible. That category’s complete application will open.

3. At the top, you will be able to see a short introduction section for that category, reiterating eligible applicants, indicating maximum grant requests, and providing links for the full Grant Guidelines and the budget form that you will need to fill out and upload later. But first, below the introduction text, you will see the words “CREATE YOUR USER ACCOUNT”. Complete this short form by entering the requested information into the boxes and press the button at the bottom labeled “Create Account and Continue”. All applicants must create an account in order to submit. Be sure to register with an email address you frequently check, since you will receive email notifications about the status of your application.

4. After clicking “Create Account and Continue” you will be directed back to the introduction text. Scroll down—now the application form will be visible below. On the left side you can upload the required documents by clicking on the “Browse” button and selecting a file from your computer. The right side has corresponding directions for what each document should include, as well as character count requirements.

5. For the budget section, we require that each applicant fill out and upload the provided budget form required for that category (see below). You can download the forms from the Civic Arts Grant website.

            Large Organizations: 3-Year Budget

Small to Mid-Size Organizations: Short Budget

            Individual Artists: Individual Artist Budget

6. At the bottom of the application form there is a button labeled “Save Draft.” Clicking here allows you to save the application you have started, log out of Submittable, and resume your application later. You can also click “Submit” if you have finished at this time. You will not be able to edit your application once you have clicked “Submit.” You will receive an email confirming that you have submitted your application.

Submittable also has an excellent FAQ section. Please consult this before reaching out to Civic Arts Staff with questions. Click here to go to the FAQ page.
