Design of Artistic Treatment for Glass Structures in Downtown Berkeley BART Plaza

Due to budget and time constraints this project has been suspended. New glass structures in the BART Plaza to open fall of 2016 will not have art treatment on them. However, the Civic Art Program is still coordinating the construction of 6 poles outfitted with speakers to create a soundscape and stage-like flexibility for performances on the new plaza.

On May 17th, 2016 a selection panel met to review the 84 applications we received from California artists. Four finalists were chosen to produce a detailed design for the glass treatment. The artists are: Vanessa Marsh, Ron Saunders, Amanda Weil, and Julie Chang.

On August 17, 2016 the selection panel will meet again to view the four finalists' design presentations. They will select a single artist by vote to proceed with the project. The selection panel is a public meeting, occurring in from 9am-1pm in the Redwood Room, 6th floor Civic Center, 2180 Milvia Street.
