PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Licensing and Citations

How to License Your Dog

Every dog living in the City of Berkeley over the age of 4 months must be licensed. You can purchase your Berkeley dog license at the Animal Shelter, 1 Bolivar Drive during regular business hours or at the License and Collections Department, 1947 Center Street, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dogs living in the City of Albany must also be licensed at 4 months of age and Albany licensing laws are enforced by Berkeley Animal Control. Licenses can be purchased at Albany City Hall, 1000 San Pablo Avenue.  510-528-5730.

You must provide proof of current rabies vaccination and, if applicable, a veterinarian certificate of spay or neuter. Spayed or neutered dog licenses are half price.

How to Resolve Your Citation

If you have received a Citation:
1.  License your dog
2.  Bring the dog license and your citation to the Wiley W. Manuel Court House, 661 Washington Street, Oakland.
