PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Office Closure Effective March 17, 2020

The Berkeley Housing Authority Office is closed to the public until further notice.

The City of Berkeley Health Officer has ordered residents to shelter in place, leaving only for essential needs. Most City facilities are closed to the public. Read the latest changes to City services and COVID-19 information from Berkeley Public Health.

 The Berkeley Housing Authority is closed to the public until further notice.



The Berkeley Housing Authority is implementing the following temporary measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, in compliance with the City of Berkeley’s Health Officer’s Order to Shelter in Place:


Effective March 17 until further notice, the agency will be closed. 

Staff will check email and voice mail periodically and will be able to respond. Please be patient; the response will not be immediate. See below for contact information of specific BHA staff.

BHA will pay April and May HAP on time to Landlords.

Tenants must continue paying their monthly rent portion to their landlords.

Move in Inspections (“RTA”) will proceed, in order to allow new tenancies.

If you need an emergency inspection, please call 510-981-5490 or 510-981-5485.

All other inspections will be on hold, however, if you have a reinspection for which you have made repairs, please send evidence of the repairs (photos or receipts for work/supplies) to: rgonzales-levine@cityofberkeley.info and tpumphrey@cityofberkeley.info.
