PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Low income households who are behind on their utility bills will able to apply for relief from past due utility bills through the Alameda County Housing Secure Program www.ac-housingsecure.org.

  • Alameda County Moratorium Still in Effect

    Worried About Eviction? Alameda County's Eviction Moratorium is Still in Place.

    While the State of California's Eviction Moratorium ended September 30, 2021, the Alameda County local eviction moratorium will stay in place throughout the Public Health Emergency Order.

    The Alameda County eviction moratorium prohibits most evictions in all cities and the unincorporated areas Alameda County.

    The Alameda County moratorium will end 60 days after the Public Health Emergency Order is lifted. The Board of Supervisors has not discussed ending the Public Health Emergency Order and has not yet scheduled this discussion.

The Berkeley Housing Authority is implementing the following temporary measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, in compliance with the City of Berkeley’s Health Officer’s Order to Shelter in Place:

 

Effective March 17 until further notice, the agency will be closed. 

Staff will check email and voice mail periodically and will be able to respond. Please be patient; the response will not be immediate. See below for contact information of specific BHA staff.

BHA will pay April and May HAP on time to Landlords.

Tenants must continue paying their monthly rent portion to their landlords.

Move in Inspections (“RTA”) will proceed, in order to allow new tenancies.

All other inspections will be on hold, however, if you have a reinspection for which you have made repairs, please send evidence of the repairs (photos or receipts for work/supplies) to: rgonzales-levine@cityofberkeley.info and kcoleman@cityofberkeley.info .
