Special Closure from March 16th to 20th

Thank you all for your patience with the construction work thus far.

The Concrete pour for the main portion of the trail has been scheduled in the week of March 16th to the 20th. As a result, the driveways and entrances to the sailing club boat yards and clubhouses will be closed during this special closure period.  Please note that the concrete takes quite some time to solidify.  Please do not walk on, or disturb the new concrete or the concrete forms.

The concrete will cure during the weekend of March 21st and 22nd and special controls will be in place to allow access into the sailing club driveways and entrances.

We appreciate your cooperation!

  • The entrances and driveways at the Cal Adventure and Cal Sailing clubs will be accessible to the public Monday to Friday from 2PM in the afternoon to 7AM the following day, and fully accessible on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • At some point during the project, the trail in front of the two sailing clubs must be closed all day and night for approximately five consecutive weekdays to allow the new concrete pathway to cure.  The timing of this period will be coordinated closely with the sailing clubs and announced in advance as soon as it becomes scheduled.
  • The City’s project team will coordinate closely with the sailing clubs for additional openings whenever it is safe and feasible.

  • The middle dock will be closed to the public for approximately one week to allow for the installation of the new ADA-accessible 80’ gangway and landing float that will be connected to the middle dock.  The timing of this period will be coordinated closely with the sailing clubs and announced in advance as soon as it becomes scheduled.

  3.  Sailing Dock Replacements at the West and East Docks

    Construction Information

  • Start Date: March, 2020
  • Completion Date: End of April, 2020 (Weather and Tide Dependent)
  • Working Days and Hours: 7AM to 3PM, Monday to Friday

    Public Access during Construction

  • During construction, one of these two docks will be closed for approximately two weeks to allow for the removal of the existing dock and installation of the new dock.  The City anticipates that the West Dock will be replaced in early March and the East Dock will be replaced in late March, and the work is highly dependent on the tides; e.g., this work cannot be performed during low tides.  The timing of these work periods will be coordinated closely with the sailing clubs and the public and will be announced in advance as soon as it becomes scheduled.
