2018 ALGA Lifetime Achievement Award
In May 2018, the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) honored former City of Berkeley City Auditor Ann‑Marie Hogan with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for dedicating her career to the advancement and support of performance auditing.

Ann-Marie is a distinguished award recipient for proudly and competently serving the City of Berkeley with a message of government transparency and accountability. Her achievements include serving as an ALGA Board Member and member of several other ALGA committees. Her principal contribution has been as a chair, member, or advisor to the ALGA Advocacy Committee since 2002. As an advocated, she assisted more than 30 jurisdictions in their efforts to establish or strengthen an audit function by drafting letters of support, reviewing proposed legislation, testifying before government bodies, providing informational resources and tools, making phone calls, and answering questions. Ann Marie has contributed to numerous publications to promote independent, local government auditing, including the last three revisions of ALGA’s Model Legislation and Guidance on Outsourcing. She was also a principal author of the Institute of Internal Auditors 2006 practice guide, The Role of Auditing in Public Sector Governance. Ann Marie has been a consistent, strong voice in support of independent, local government auditing. Her many contributions exemplify the type of professional who clearly deserves the recognition and distinction of the ALGA Lifetime Achievement Award. |
