AC Alert Emergency Notifications
AC Alert is Berkeley’s
primary emergency notification system.
The City uses AC Alert to
share emergency information and instructions through phone calls, emails, text
messages and TTY/TDD messages.
Sign up to receive AC Alert
Go to the AC Alert signup page to sign up or edit your account information
Listed AT&T landline telephone numbers are automatically
subscribed to receive emergency warning voice calls from AC Alert.
You must subscribe manually for all other phone numbers and contact
methods, including:
- unlisted land lines
- mobile phones
- VoIP
- digital phone
- TTY/TDD
- text messaging
- e-mail
Sign up multiple contact methods if
possible
To maximize the likelihood you receive instructions during
an emergency, sign up as many contact methods as possible. Include both text
messaging and voice calls for your mobile phone, as well as one or more e-mail
accounts.
BENS subscribers need to sign up
again
BENS subscribers are not
automatically enrolled in AC Alert. The City stopped using BENS on July 1, 2017.
If you had previously subscribed to BENS, you need to sign up again with AC Alert to continue
receiving emergency notifications.
Nixle subscribers
need to sign up
Nixle subscribers need to sign up for AC Alert to ensure they receive all appropriate
notifications. Nixle will continue to carry crime prevention tips and alerts
from the Berkeley Police Department. AC Alert is Berkeley’s primary emergency notification
system.
