RECO Spending Limits

is a limit to the amount of money that you are required to spend to meet
RECO upgrades. You need not
spend more than:
If the expenditure limit is reached, and the property is sold again, all remaining measures must be met by the next buyer. Example: Attic insulation is typically the most expensive RECO measure. If the Maximum Expenditure Limit for a property is $2,200, and the Homeowner spends $2,200 to insulate the attic, then the remaining RECO items would roll over to the next homeowner at the next sale of the property. If, however, the homeowner only spends $500 on all other measures, the homeowner is required to spend AT LEAST another $1,700 to insulate the attic. The responsibility for RECO compliance cannot be transferred more than once. Back to RECO Guide page
