Community's help needed to find developmentally disabled woman - Berkeley, California (Thursday, August 5, 2010) – Members of the City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) are asking for the community’s help in locating a developmentally disabled woman whose name is Heather Bloom. In June of 2009, Bloom’s mother, who lives in New York called BPD after she had not been able to contact her daughter and Heather’s adult caretaker since 2005. [more...]
Serving Up Smiles - On Thursday, August 19, members of the City of Berkeley Police Department are once again participating in Tip-a-Cop. Operators of an authorized emergency vehicle during the course of employment are exempt. - The City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) has received many inquiries regarding BPD personnel using cell phones while driving. We felt it was important to share that “Operators of an authorized emergency vehicle during the course of employment are exempt under California Vehicle Code [VC] §23123” - the law dealing with the use of wireless telephones (cell phones) while driving that went into effect on July 1, 2008. Collaboration leads to success; suspect in double shooting arrested - Collaboration between the City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) and the City of Oakland Police Department (OPD) led to the arrest of the suspect in the May 20th shooting of a man and woman in the 1700 block of 63rd Street. BPD and OPD had been exchanging information and following leads to the whereabouts of Doran Williams., Jr., 10/17/82, who was wanted for the crimes. [more...]
