Executive Director of Kala Institute; Jill Berk Jiminez, Executive
Director of the Berkeley Art Center; and Mary Ann Merker, Civic Arts
Coordinator.
That
group narrowed the initial 500
images to a group of about 100 images that were presented to an
in-house advisory panel representing the City Manager’s Office,
Mayor’s Office, City Attorney’s Office, City Architect, the
Curator for the Addison Street Window Exhibits, and the Civic Arts
Commission. The panel selected 38 artworks of artists who either
live or work in Berkeley. The mediums for the artworks range from
works on paper to mixed media and sculpture. To support the
individual artists efforts, a cash per-diem was awarded to each
selected artist.
