Berkeley,
California (Thursday, November 17, 2005) —
Through a grant
from California Integrated Waste Management Board, the City of
Berkeley provides household collection and disposal services for
hazardous wastes to eligible residents for only $10.00 per
pickup. The remaining portion, over $100, is paid by the grant that
will expire March 31. The
program is intended to assist Berkeley residents who meet one or
more of the following qualifications:
• Berkeley's seniors (ages 65
and older)
• Low income households (annual
income of less than $51,250)
• Residents with disabilities
• Households without a vehicle
How Does It Work?
Call
the City's Contractor, Curbside, Inc. at 800-449-7587 to request
a collectionat your home. If unable to assemble the
material, the driver will assist the resident.A special request
must be made in advance by contacting Curbside, Inc. at the
number provided above.
