STATEMENT FROM "PEACE MUST BEGIN AT HOME." I am deeply saddened by the outbreak of war. I join with the Berkeley community in hoping and praying that the loss of life will be minimal and that the hostilities will be short. Many in this community - and across the world - have grave concerns about this war and will look to demonstrate their frustration, anger, and dismay. It is right and appropriate that we do so. But, in this time of violence overseas, I ask that everyone in the Berkeley community express themselves with respect for one another and in the spirit of peace. We must lead by example - there is no place for violence in our City. Peace must begin at home. In that spirit, I invite everyone in our community to gather in Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. It will be an opportunity for us to come together and make our voices heard. # # #
