IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mayor Bates to be Sworn in for Second Term on Tuesday Night Mayor Bates
and the recently re-elected members of the City Council will be sworn in
at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12th in Berkeley City Council
Chambers. Berkeley, CA – Mayor Tom Bates
will be sworn in for his second term as Berkeley’s Mayor at a brief
ceremonial event at the beginning of the City Council Meeting on Tuesday
evening. The Mayor was
re-elected with 63% of the vote on November 7th.
The swearing in follows Alameda County’s official certification
of the vote last week. Mayor Bates previously served as
an Alameda County Supervisor for four years and as a Member of the
California Assembly for 20 years. “I am truly honored to have the
opportunity to serve the people of Berkeley for another term as mayor,”
said Mayor Tom Bates. “I
hope to continue to make great progress in our efforts to improve services
to our youth, expand environmental initiatives, provide affordable and
