Mayor Bates
begins one-year term after unanimous selection by his peers. Berkeley, CA – Mayor Tom Bates has taken the helm of the Alameda County Conference of Mayors following the unanimous vote of his peers earlier this year. Mayor Bates will chair his first meeting of the Conference in July. “I am honored to have been elected by my peers as President of the Mayor’s conference,” said Mayor Tom Bates. “I will use this opportunity to make progress on a number of the most important issues facing Berkeley and the region – from transportation funding to homeless services.” Mayor Bates’ one-year term began on June 8th. He succeeded Mayor Janet Lockhart from Dublin. The Conference includes mayors from the 14 Alameda County cities. The group meets monthly to work on issues facing the region and to make appointments to regional boards and bodies. Mayor Bates also serves on the powerful Bay Conservation Development Commission (BCDC) and on the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA). # # # |
