Preliminary Budget Recommendations Released

The City Council discusses options for closing $8.9 million budget deficit, sees structurally balanced budget by 2009.

Closing the City's budget deficit continues to be the largest and most significant issue facing the City Council. As the City works towards balancing our budget again this year, there is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the City's budget team is now projecting a structurally balanced in two years. The bad news is that the City has two more difficult years of cuts to get there, including a deficit of $8.9 million this year alone. That deficit will require very painful cuts throughout city operations.
