Mayor Hosts Conference for 50 Developers and Builders to Push for Green Buildings

Berkeley, CA -- Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, leading green building experts, architects, contractors and developers will meet to discuss collaboration on developing sustainable multi-family residential and commercial buildings in Berkeley.

Goals for the discussion include:

• Identifying and discussing the current challenges and barriers for building green in Berkeley.
• Presenting hard-cost data for larger commercial and multi-family development projects.
• Introducing the City of Berkeley’s incentives and Green Building Initiatives, which include the Best Builders Program.

When: Tuesday, December 14, 2004; 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Where: Sixth Floor, Sequoia and Redwood Rooms, Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Center Building (City Hall), 2180 Milvia Street

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Green Resource Center, a professional non-profit organization and trusted information resource committed to developing the market for green building.
