Open Letter to See's Candy April 26, 2004 Charles

It is with great sadness that the Berkeley community has learned of your plans to close the Downtown Berkeley store. I can tell you from my personal experience and by the volume of calls, emails, and letters I have received over the past couple weeks that your small store is a cherished Berkeley institution. Recently, rumors began circulating that you may have had a change of heart regarding this store – as you did the Lakeshore Avenue store in Oakland. While those rumor raised our spirits considerably, it appears they were unfounded. On behalf of the City and the thousands of See’s Candies aficionados in this community, I urge you to reconsider your decision and take another look at this Berkeley store.
