BERKELEY
AND RIVERSIDE MAYORS TO HOST MEETING OF TOP OFFICIALS FROM UC AND CSU HOST
CITIES
Mayors, council members, and city managers from cities that host state university campuses to gather at Oakland Hilton on Friday morning. Berkeley, CA In an effort to
develop joint strategies and share best practices, Berkeley Mayor Tom
Bates and Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge are convening the second meeting
of mayors and city managers that host California State University and
University of California campuses. The group, which first met last year in Sacramento, is working to develop a statewide partnership that will help cities develop strategies on land use, transportation, economic development, housing, and other issues. Mayor Loveridge, who is coming to Oakland for the meeting, also serves as President of the League of California Cities. When we met last year,
we found that we all face similar challenges and opportunities from
traffic jams to economic development, said Mayor Bates.
We are now taking the next step and identifying concrete issues
and a common strategy for this new host city partnership.
