STAFF TO TAKE PAY CUT TO ASSIST WITH CITY’S FINANCIAL CRISIS
Mayor’s staff matches reduction already accepted by City’s top managers.Berkeley, CA – In an effort to assist the City with its fiscal crisis, the Mayor’s staff has voluntarily agreed to take a 3% reduction in their retirement benefits. This reduction matches the reduction taken by the City’s top management staff. “I greatly appreciate this effort by my staff,” said Mayor Tom Bates. “As we work through these difficult budget times, I am encouraged that city employees are engaged on this issue and working to find solutions to the fiscal crisis. I hope that all of our employees will consider matching the reduction taken by my staff and our top managers.” The Mayor’s personal staff includes four people – Cisco DeVries, Julie Sinai, Calvin Fong, and Suzanne Wilson. # # #
