Mayor Bates to Hold 7th Annual Student 
Awards Ceremony

 Mayor Tom Bates to continue tradition of recognizing high school students with June 3rd event at the Radisson Hotel Berkeley Marina.

Berkeley, CA – Continuing a Berkeley tradition, Mayor Tom Bates will present awards to Berkeley students in the annual Student Recognition Ceremony.

With Berkeley City Council Members, School Board Members, parents, and teachers on hand, Mayor Bates will help hand out nearly 200 awards to student leaders who were nominated by Berkeley school faculty. 

“I am proud to continue the tradition of honoring Berkeley students for their leadership, citizenship, and perseverance,” said Mayor Bates.  “Not every award recipient has the best grades in their class, but every one has impressed a teacher with their effort and determination.”

KTVU reporter and Berkeley High graduate John Sasaki will give the keynote address.  The Berkeley High Jazz Ensemble Trio and Nosa Ogbebar will provide entertainment.
