The City of Berkeley Marina Experience Program has delighted over 35,000 Adults, and children each year.   We provide volunteers, teachers and students high quality environmental education programs, Shoreline clean-ups, a demonstration green building , and Adventure Playground for all ages throughout the year. Please go to the sub-pages of this site for more information.  Please feel free to contact us

Summer program schedule available- Registration for Marine Biology and on the water programs will be March 22, 2008 starting at 9:30a.m.

Adventure Playground       
Open  
 weekends ONLY from 11  - 4 p.m.  Closed  when raining.
Groups need to make reservations  at least a month in advance
 Come join the fun- Here is the registration form for children 7 yrs and older who "drop in"   the Adventure Playground for three hours only without a parent.  Pick up is at 4:30. School year  child drop-in registration form. Want to drop your child and his  friend off ? Drop ins only Saturdays. Have their parents fill out the form and sign the waiver before you come- No waiver, no drop off. If you signed one in the summer, we require a new one filled out for the school year

Volunteer Bay Interpretive Training Program is continuing for this school year We  are still accepting volunteers and our next trainings are Feb 7-8, 28-29th . Click on this link to find out the most asked questions or call  for an application.  People are welcome to join any time.   We  instruct you how to help us, as we all teach the classes.  Your Minimum commitment is 14 hrs a months- including the trainings. If you would like to observe a program please call .  If you would like to see a brochure this is a legal sized pdf and be patient it has color pictures and downloads slowly.

Berkeley Shoreline Clean-up  anytime   The creeks near your homes have flushed down lots of plastic debris onto our shore. We need you and your groups to continue to help to get it up. Pick up our shorelines and help the animals. Educational component offered.  We will provide you or your group with bags, bring your own gloves and personal non disposable waterbottle.  
 Next International Clean-up will be Sept. 20th call if your group of 10 or more is interested. Individual or families just need to show up. It is  the largest research project in the world. The data collected  will help change the law about marine dumping. All of us ( animals)  need your help! Check this link for  information. See the results of the 2007 International clean-up  

Straw bale Nature Center  Open to visitors Tues. - Fri. 1pm -5pm. Sat 9-5
Inside our new building we have a Bay aquarium, a fresh water tank, a fish and bird exhibits and more. If you would like a  tour of our new straw bale building and the "green" components and see the DVD of how it was made, please call so we can schedule a time. Otherwise you are welcome to take a self guided tour. for more info see this link. STRAW BALE BUILDING Environmentally sensitive building is our  office and visitors center. Check this link for information and pictures. The full photo documentary and green items are available to see inside the  building.

Lottery is now closed  for School year 2007-2008  Marine Environmental Education Programs
.  Teachers can either down load the form . or contact us and leave your address to get on our mailing list. They will be mailed out in Aug. for Nov.- June programs.  

NEW! Fundraiser on board the Hornblower Yacht    APRIL 27TH
We will be having the event of the year! Come take a glorious afternoon cruise on S.F. Bay that includes lavish Hor D'oeuevres, and  fine wines. Touch and learn with the best of the Nature Center hands on stations. Listen to our environmental heroes talk about what's next while you cruise through the silent auction or hear your number being read during the raffle. All this fun and you will be raising  funds to purchase equipment for the new education classroom. We are currently looking for raffle prizes and silent auction items. We need your help. If you have experience doing this or contacts that will help us make it a successful event- Please let us know 981-6720

JOB  FOR  ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND, SUMMER  POSITION- DESCRIPTION and application  $15.17 per hour. Work on  weekends, and  midweek, must have at least two years experience working with children, and or a specialized talent working with carpentry. Job is out of doors, fun in the sun.
