Demolition Inspection Owners or contractors request demolition inspections for construction and remodeling, and before removing dilapidated structures that pose a health and safety hazard. Upon receipt of an application, Environmental Health inspectors make site inspections of structures. They look for wood, debris, rubble, abandoned vehicles, appliances, obvious hazardous materials, rodent problems, and safety hazards such as refrigerators with intact doors. Before starting demolition work, owners are required to obtain dumpsters and to remove debris and other accumulations that prevent rodent harborage and public nuisance. In order to minimize noise complaints, inspectors notify applicants about the City's Community Noise Ordinance and guidelines for noise generation and hours of operation. |
