ACTION MINUTES of Regular Community Environmental Advisory Commission Meeting of 5/4/2006.

 

 

ACTION MINUTES

Attendees: Clear, Hale, Kibbey, Sridaran and Toffel.  Absent: Harris, Moret, and MacKusick,

 

Public Comment:

David Kirwin. Commented on tritum exit signs as safe.

Pamela Sihvola. Committee to Minimize Toxic Waste requested LBNL groundwater management plan for June meeting. Addressed tritium exit sign as unsafe; spoke in favor of nanoparticle regulations.

Mark Alper and Rick Kelly discussed nanoparticle regulation with CEAC. Proposed using “engineered particle and at least one dimension that is within 1 – 100 nanometer in dimension. Will send CEAC a HEPA filter reports on applicability to nano-sized particles.

Tom Kelly. Chair Community Health Commission. Supported regulation on nanoparticles.

 

On Thursday, May 4, 2006, the CEAC took the following action:

 

·          SUBJECT: April Minutes review/adoption

Action: Motioned, seconded, carried (Kibbey/Sridaran. For: Unanimous. Against: None. Absent: MacKusick, Moret, Harris.) to adopt meeting minutes of April 2006 as amended (remove public reporting).

 

To Do List:

  1. Kibbey: Report back from Netherlands in July meeting.
  2. Dissolve Lawrence Berkeley Lab subcommittee on soils and groundwater plan. Request Kibbey communicate to Dept of Toxic Substances Control through Secretary.
  3. Dissolve Pacific Steel Casting subcommittee.
