of litigation
The Berkeley City Council will meet with its attorneys to consider whether to initiate litigation challenging the approval by the Regents of the University of California of the Seismic Replacement Building 1, at Oxford and Hearst Streets, and associated projects, as described in the Notice of Determination dated September 14, 2000. Significant exposure to litigation pursuant to subdivision (b) of Government Code section 54956.9 Threat of Exposure to Litigation At its July
25 meeting the City Council received a letter from counsel from
telecommunications companies charging that it would be violating state law
if it imposes a moratorium on the issuance of permits to such companies.
The City Attorney has concluded that the letter results in
significant exposure to the City of litigation . The City Council is
meeting with the City Attorney to discuss the threat of and exposure to
such litigation. Om,
