CLOSED SESSION: (The Council will recess into Closed Session immediately after Public Comment or immediately after Roll Call if there are no public speakers)

The Council will meet in closed session to discuss the following matters:

CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – ANTICIPATED LITIGATION PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9 (c)

Initiation of litigation  
The City Council will confer with the City Attorney as to whether to file suit against Urban Parking Corporation and its principal officer Robert Power to collect back business license and parking lot taxes.

The City Council will also confer with the City Attorney as to whether to file an amicus brief in an appellate case on behalf of the respondent.  The case is, Gritchen v. Collier, No. 99- 56950 United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.  The trial court decision on appeal is published at 73 F.Supp. 2d 1148 (C.D.Cal.1999)

ADJOURNMENT:  (The Council may adjourn this meeting to the City Council Chambers, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, and reconvene into Open Session at 7:00 p.m. to make a report, if any such report is required by law.)
