Chapter 19.72 COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS--ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES
Section 19.72.030 Energy audit required prior to sale or major renovation of a commercial building.
Prior to the sale or major renovation of a commercial building,
subject to the exemptions set
forth in Section 19.72.080, the owner thereof shall commission an energy audit of the building
which is the subject of the sale or major renovation, for the purpose of ascertaining the cost and
energy savings of each required energy conservation measure under Section 19.72.090 of this
chapter which is applicable to that commercial building. In addition the Auditor shall evaluate
whether any measure is inapplicable, or not cost-effective, or would cause a financial hardship
within the meaning of this chapter. The audit shall be conducted by persons qualified to perform
such audits, as determined by the City of Berkeley, and the energy auditor shall provide the
owner of such building with a written report concerning the Auditor's findings on the matters
required by this section to be contained in such energy audit. A copy of such report shall be filed
