Suspect Arrested for Arson - Berkeley, California (Friday, July 23, 2010) – City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) Property Crimes detectives have arrested a man responsible for a suspicious fire in front of Sam’s Market, 2312 Telegraph Avenue. This fire was one of nine (9) fires that had been deliberately set on city property in the South Campus area since Friday, July 16th. Detectives found Travis Eugene Churchill, 25 of Berkeley in People’s Park on July 20, 2010 and took him into custody without incident.

$17,000 Reward Offered - The City of Berkeley is offering a $15,000 reward, and Bay Area Crime Stoppers (BACS) is offering an additional $2,000 reward, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting death of Marcus Isiah Mosley Jr., 29 years old. Homicide in the 2800 Block of Milvia Street - Friday evening, July 16, 2010 community members began calling the City of Berkeley Police Department’s (BPD) 911 lines at approximately 5:10 p.m. reporting hearing gun shots. BPD Patrol Officers responded to the 2800 block of Milvia Street, just north of Russell Street and found a male slumped over the wheel in the driver’s side of a parked car in that block. [more...]

Collaboration leads to success; suspect in double shooting arrested - Collaboration between the City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) and the City of Oakland Police Department (OPD) led to the arrest of the suspect in the May 20th shooting of a man and woman in the 1700 block of 63rd Street. BPD and OPD had been exchanging information and following leads to the whereabouts of Doran Williams., Jr., 10/17/82, who was wanted for the crimes. [more...]

Double Shooting Suspect Wanted by Police - On May 20, 2010, at approximately 11:03 AM, the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) received numerous calls reporting shots fired in the area of King St. and 63rd St. in south Berkeley. Responding officers arrived on scene to find two shooting victims, a 39 year-old male, and a 57 year-old female. Both were critically injured. [more...]
