Parking Citations vs. Broken Parking Meters
Even if a parking meter is broken, the applicable time limits are strictly enforced,
meaning that the maximum time limit allowed by the parking meter is still the
maximum time you are allowed to park in the meter’s space while the meter's
hours of operations are in effect. Most meters have a printed warning
saying "Time Limits Strictly Enforced Whether Meter Expired or Broken."
(See sample photo, below.)
If you have received a parking citation for exceeding the time limit of the meter,
then you are responsible for paying it, even if the parking meter is broken
or malfunctioning. You are also encouraged to report the broken parking meter
to us using this form.
Parking Citations vs. Broken Park EZ Pay Stations
Even if a Park EZ Pay Station is broken or malfunctioning, the applicable
time limits are strictly enforced, meaning that you must locate another
functional machine to pay for parking. Please be sure to use another
machine with the same time limit, which one would often find
on the same block or across the street. Using a machine with a different
time limit to try buying "extra time" in excess of the stated time
limit where you are parked is not permitted.
Parking Citation Disputes
If you would like to dispute a parking citation, please follow the procedures
