Additional Energy Efficiency Programs for Businesses and Multifamily Properties:

Berkeley's Building Energy Efficiency Solutions (BEES) Project:
BEES is a joint project between the Cities of Berkeley, Oakland and Emeryville aimed at developing innovative strategies to increase energy efficiency, improve occupant comfort and safety, and lower utility bills in our communities' apartment buildings, cooperatives and condos. BEES is about developing local solutions to the barriers tenants and building owners face when trying to lower their energy consumption. Multifamily BEES is a 2-year project that began in January 2011.

Energy Upgrade California for Multifamily Rebates for 2-4 unit buildings. PG&E recently extended their rebates (of $1,500-$4,000 per dwelling unit) to residential buildings with 2-4 units. To qualify, buildings must be residential (no mixed-use) with 2-4 units and, in the case of multiple owners (including condominiums and townhouses), all owners must participate and have permission from all tenants. In addition, at the current time, the program is designed for units that are separately metered for both gas and electric. If you are interested in lowering the cost of energy improvements in your 2-4 unit building by participating in this program, contact Matthew Savage at Build It Green, 510-590-3360 x133. Energy Upgrade California
