Tuolumne Family Camp Health Update (July 19, 2010) We are happy to announce that Berkeley Tuolumne Family Camp has reopened after a round of illness closed the camp for the weekend.
A contagious intestinal illness spread among campers during the first two weeks of July. After consulting with Tuolumne County and City of Berkeley health officials, the City made the decision to close the camp for 72 hours (July 16-19). The closure was designed to ensure that overlapping groups of campers did not continue to spread this illness.
During the closure, the camp received an extensive cleaning and other hygiene-related improvements were made, thereby making it easier for staff and campers to reduce the chance of spreading any kind of contagious illness.
Families who were affected by the closure are being individually contacted and refunds for lost time will be given. If anyone has any questions about their trip to Tuolumne, please contact Parks, Recreation and Waterfront staff at 510/981-5140 or recreation@CityofBerkeley.info.
