ANA grew up in San Diego County and now attends UC Berkeley. She is in her 3rd year in college majoring in Geography and minoring in Public Policy. This past academic year, Ana served as an Alternative Breaks leader, leading a group of Berkeley students to the Central Valley to study issues surrounding farm workers. She also worked with Border Angels in San Diego to improve sanctuaries for recent deportees. She is excited to continue her next two years in Berkeley, hopefully honing in on her interests and further developing her passions.

NAPOLEAN will be going to Santa Fe University in the Fall of 2012 with a major in Contemporary Music and a minor in Business. Napolean wants to pursue a career as a successful entertainer, career in entertainment law, and a career in marketing & managing in the entertainment industry. |

SAMAH is a fourth-year student at the University of California, Merced majoring in Political Science with a double minor in Professional Writing and Psychology. She is a California native, originally from San Francisco and currently resides in Alameda. Following graduation, Samah plans to further her studies by attending law school or enrolling in a graduate program in American Politics or International Relations. Samah plans to intern at a local law firm early next year to acquire valuable work experience and to gain exposure to different litigation perspectives. She plans to eventually pursue a career in politics or a legal career in the future. |

KATIE is a fourth-year Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning major at UC Davis. She grew up in Lafayette but has spent a lot of time in Berkeley at stores, restaurants and the Berkeley Art Museum. She is working towards a career in protecting the environment and has done so by teaching first graders in Davis about water conservation and volunteering at a wildlife park in near Sydney, Australia.

RYAN is also a fourth year student at UC Davis majoring in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning with a minor in Community and Regional Development. He is originally from Alameda and enjoys photography and travelling, and has recently gone abroad to study sustainable city models in Northern Europe. He hopes to eventually work in both the public and private sectors to improve livability in urban communities through public transit and the built environment.

EMILIANO is a life-long Berkeley resident, having attended Berkeley Unified schools and now studying at Berkeley Community College. He plans to transfer to UC Berkeley in the fall of 2013 with a double major in Political Science and Biology. In high school, he served as president for the Chican@/Latin@ graduation and also attended the ICLEM Synthetic Biology Program in Emeryville. Emiliano hopes to have a career that allows him to exercise his knowledge of both Political Science and Biology. |

JAZMIN is from Los Angeles, California. She is a third-year at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science and Portuguese. She is a BUILD director at Frances Albrier Parks and Recreation. Through BUILD she works to increase literacy levels amongst Elementary and Middle School students. In the past she has worked with the Young Women Health Leadership program where she advocated and lobbied for reproductive rights of women. In addition, she has interned for the Step Up NIDDK- NIH program as a student researcher; there she studied the health disparities in her community.

OSCAR is a second–year graduate student in the Master of Public Administration at San Jose State University where he have gained knowledge on Public Policy issues, Public Management, Administrative Research Methods, and Public Administration. Oscar has had the fortune to educate myself in different areas, and hold several degrees: BA in Computing Administration from U.A.T.; BA in Sociology from San Francisco State University, and a Double Major in Political Science, and Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley. He looks forward to learning about Local Government, City Services, Housing, Public Safety, Environment, Development Services, Human Services, and Transportation and apply all that knowledge in the future as a public servant because he wants to help resolve concerns, assist, and provide services for the community. |

CARINA is a second-year intended Political Science major at UC Berkeley. As an intern working under the City of Berkeley’s Housing Department, she seeks to understand the complex housing issues facing the city’s diverse community to help improve the lives of Berkeley residents. She has been involved in local political internships in San Francisco and Berkeley, as well as international non-profit organizations. In her free time, Carina enjoys reading current events news magazines, trying lots of different foods, and traveling.

MADISON is a Berkeley native and a first-year student at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She plans to double major in Political Science and Art History with a minor in economics. In addition to being an intern for the City of Berkeley, she volunteers at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. |

ALEJANDRA is fluent in Spanish. She participates in her leadership club at Berkeley High School. Currently she’s in the summer CORO Exploring Leadership program. She’s looking forward to learning about new aspects of our community and hopes to attend UCLA after high school. She wants to pursue a career as a criminal investigator. |

BRITTANY grew up in Santa Cruz and is going into her second year as a Development Studies major at UC Berkeley. She has previous experience in politics from serving on Representative Anna Eshoo’s Student Advisory Board for two years. She is also a tutor for elementary-aged children in Berkeley and hopes to one day pursue a career broadening educational opportunities for underprivileged children. |

EVAN is a second year Economics major, Global Poverty minor at UC Berkeley. She is the Secretary for the UCB Black Student Union and a member of the Berkeley Student Cooperative. Evan is from San Ramon, California. |

JOSEPH is a fourth-year student at UC San Diego, majoring in Political Science with a Public Law concentration, and minoring in Philosophy. He explores many disciplines from legal to finance. He has previous experience working at a finance firm and currently serves as the Finance Director for the UCSD Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda. Joseph plans on becoming financially licensed early next year and pursuing an investment/wealth management career in a large securities firm, then later furthering his education by either attending law school or an MBA program.

SHARON is a third-year at UC Berkeley, majoring in Urban Studies with an emphasis on City and Regional Planning. She is from Valencia, California, and enjoys slalom waterskiing, wakeboarding, and volleyball. She hopes to pursue an urban design/policy career in transportation, affordable housing, or zoning.
