South Berkeley Senior Center
The South Berkeley Senior Center is a multipurpose facility that is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for persons 55 years of age and older. Classes and Events
The South Berkeley Senior Center provides weekly instruction through Berkeley Adult School and volunteers. The variety of free classes, seminars, and social events are an attraction to seniors with diverse backgrounds and interest. Classes are held in T'ai Chi, gentle exercise, tap dancing, line dancing, sewing, ceramics, hat making, arts and crafts, painting, jewel ming-tree crafting, walking for health, quilting, crocheting, and many more. Dining
A noon time meal is served daily to persons 60 years and older for a suggested donation. Please see the Tri-City Café menus on this website. The South Berkeley Senior Center Mercy Brown Bag Program provides free groceries to low-income seniors on the first and third Friday of each month.
Counseling and Referrals Services
The staff at the South Berkeley Senior Center provides counseling and referral services for seniors. Staff assist in the area of legal matters, income tax issues, social security benefits, housing, health insurance, health screening, counseling, and transportation.
Travel
Traveling adventures are carefully planned with the best possible rates via sea, air, or land. Trip destinations include Reno, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Yosemite, Napa wineries, local Bay cruises, and other places of interest to our seniors.
Volunteering
If you're interested in volunteering, the South Berkeley Senior Center is seeking volunteers to work with our meals program, fundraising activities, our monthly birthday celebration, with special events and as a Advisory Council Member.
