On June 28, 2016 the Berkeley City Council passed the One-Percent for Public Art on Private Projects
Ordinance. The council item can be viewed here.
Please note that as part of their decision on June 28, City Council voted to incentivize the in lieu fund at .08% of construction costs. Therefore the ordinance now provides the developer with two options for allocating funds:
1. Include on-site publicly accessible artwork valued at 1% of construction costs; or
2. Pay an in-lieu fee to the Cultural Trust Fund valued at .08% of the construction costs
These changes will soon be reflected in the Guidelines (link below).
Open Call for Public Art Consultants: Berkeley Civic Arts Office is seeking qualified public art consultants to be listed in a resource provided to developers pursuant to the One-Percent for Public Art of Private Projects Ordinance.
