 Energy Conservation Ordinances

Conserving energy in existing buildings is an important goal for the City of Berkeley. It helps save money and reduces green house gas emissions. Half of all green house gas emissions in Berkeley come from electricity and natural gas usage in existing homes and businesses. RECO/CECO Update On September 10, 2013, City Council adopted a resolution directing staff to initiate a public process to update the City's existing Residential Energy Conservation Ordinance (RECO) and Commercial Energy Conservation Ordinance (CECO) laws.
