Mission:
Oversees and reviews the planning process and planning issues.  Specific types of matters which come before the Planning Commission include revisions to the General Plan, Area Plans, Zoning Ordinance amendments, etc., including EIR and subdivision approvals.

Planning Commission and the New 2010 Downtown Area Plan

City Council has provided direction for a new 2010 Downtown Area Plan (DAP) with General Plan amendments for consistency.  The new DAP is substantially different from that of July 2009, which was rescinded by Council in February 2010.

A Public Hearing for the new 2010 DAP will be held on April 28, beginning at 7pm at the North Berkeley Senior Center (1901 Hearst Avenue at MLK). 

Planning Commission is expected to make its recommendations on May 12, after which a draft of the new 2010 DAP will move to City Council for discussion in late June and July.
