CLOSED SESSION:
The City Council will convene in closed session to meet concerning the following:
- Conference with Legal Counsel – Initiation of Litigation Pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(c):
The Berkeley City Council will consider whether to file litigation against the Alameda County Registrar of Voters and the proponents of the “Initiative Ordinance Requiring Voter Approval of Exclusive Transit-Only and HOV/Bus-Only Lanes” to prevent the initiative from being placed on the November 2008 ballot.
Action: M/S/C (Maio/Worthington) to
1. Honor the initiative process.
2. Acknowledge the initiative process is an important tool.
3. Take no legal action.
