BPD: SUSPECTS STILL AT LARGE AFTER ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

Berkeley, California (Tuesday, February 14, 2017) - On 2/14/17 at about 5:30pm, Berkeley Police responded to an attempted robbery on the 2800 block of Piedmont Avenue.   The suspects fled the scene in a dark model sedan when they were spotted by a responding Berkeley Patrol Officer.  The Officer activated his lights and siren and attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled from him and a brief pursuit ensued.  The suspect vehicle was involved in two minor collisions before it was abandoned by the suspects on the 5600 block of Oakgrove Avenue in the Rockridge neighborhood of North Oakland.

Officers from the Oakland and Berkeley Police Departments sealed the area and a block search was conducted.   After an extensive search the effort was terminated with both suspects still at large.

The victim described the first suspect as a black male, 15-20 years old, 6’0.  No description was provided of the second suspect.

Detectives are asking the community’s help in identifying these suspects.  Members of the community who have information regarding this case are encouraged to call the Berkeley Police Robbery Detail at (510) 981-5741.
