The City of Berkeley,Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department and the Marina Experience Program present the Bay Festival, at the Berkeley Marina on

This wonderful FREE event  first happened 80 years ago when  the Marina first opened in 1937. The Bay Festival now showcases activities and environmental education that are available here at the Marina and all around the region. Come celebrate the Earth and our Bay by listening to music, eating wonderful food, and enjoying a day by the Bay.  

Held outdoors in  Shorebird Park, 160 University Ave. Berkeley CA. This event is for all ages, providing information for you. Visit our Straw bale "green" building and pick up information about solar products and insulated windows from the exhibitors here. In addition, groups will have summer program offerings and locations you can go to for educational trips. 

Come pick up a Passport  to the Bay with all these wonderful groups listed in it. If you go to each table and do the activity they provide, you can  learn amazing things!

Come see the E.B.R.P.D. mobile fresh water fish exhibit. These large fish are found locally in the delta and lakes nearby.  Make sure you stop by our classroom to see our 200 gallon salt water native fish tanks and fresh water native fish tanks. 
 In 2017, Our food vendors will be:   Fist full of Flour- Pizza and Endless Summer Sweets and India Gourmet.

The entertainment will be spirited  with Gary Lapow -children's music in the morning , Dana Smith an entertaining juggler, Lee Waterman Quartet and Downtown Rhythm will be jamming for you. 
The Adventure Playground will be open for children to build with hammers, nails, saws and paint ( with parental supervision).

ON THE WATER!  Paddle a Dragon Boat for all ages with parents,  and Cal Sailing Club for 6 years and up with adult supervision. Sailing can be wet, so bring waterproof clothes and get a first hand experience on the Bay.   

11am-4pm        Main event  on the  lawn area of Shorebird Park in front of the  Shorebird Park Nature Center. Here you'll find environmental education groups and recreational activities.   All exhibitors have hands-on activities. Off the South Sailing Basin dock there will be free sailboat rides in small boats. 
To ride in the larger keel boats sign up by J Dock must be 6 years and up with parental supervision offered by the Cal Sailing Club.

11 am-3:30 pm
For paddling lessons in a dragon boat, sign-up with the Berkeley Dragon Boat group in the main festival area.  Life jackets provided.

 Thoughout the day, our unique Adventure Playground will be open to the pubic. In Adventure Playground, kids of all ages are encouraged to build, paint, climb, and ride the zip line. Parents must supervise their children in the park and sign the waiver as they enter.

To help the environment, we encourage alternate transportation and carpooling, if you are riding your bike, you can park it next to Adventure Playground during the event. Ask at the info table.
